SEA | SEE
In the same way that a letter completely transforms a word; ‘SEA | SEE’ represents the small change in our consciousness that can transform the world that we live in. This personal project, created from 2011 to 2013, stems from the need of a change in behaviour. During these years I started my diving career, and was able to witness very closely the impacts our society was having above and under the ocean’s surface. Remnants of many of our actions, from discarded fishing gear to millions of pieces of plastics, became part of my creations. Dos Winkel’s book, Another World, was used as inspiration for some of the paintings.
I developed this art project to demonstrate how art can be utilized as a powerful tool for science communication, helping to inspire individuals and communities to take direct action to help save our oceans.
