We are all in the same boat
In February 2020 I was part of Leg 7 of eXXpedition’s Round the World Voyage, we navigated 2009 nautical miles from Galapagos to Easter Island. This unique experience wouldn’t have been possible without the help of many sponsors and donors that helped me get there.
To give something back, I created three Thank you Packages for my individual sponsors. Which consisted of the following:
This poster was part of the third package, inspired by the experience and an essential part of what I took with me. Here an extract of my blog for eXXpedition:
Our planet is our boat, and although it feels so big, it also has its limits. We can see it in our seas, in the air we breathe, in the changes in our climates. We are reaching a crucial point where nature is forcing us to stop and start observing the world around us. Earth is ‘making the unseen, seen’ and it’s doing it in a very explicit way. In the same way that we could not have reached our destination alone, the global community will not be able to get out of this situation [plastics in our oceans] without helping each other.
The potential to make a difference is in every one of us, from staying in our houses to saying NO to that plastic bottle. It is important to give deserved value to those small, individual actions. Because in the end, the most important thing is to know, that we sail this universe in the same boat.
Medium: the boat was created from discarded plastics collected during the eXXpedition trip, photography and digital intervention.
